An exhibition by Swedish Girls in collaboration with Cucina Alchemia
Icebreakers explores the subtle strategies that allow encounters to happen. A joke, a gesture, an object – each can shift the atmosphere and open up space between people. In this exhibition, Swedish Girls investigate icebreakers as both social tools and material conditions: furniture that shapes proximity, objects that set situations in motion, and interventions that negotiate the tension between awkwardness and curiosity.
Together with Cucina Alchemia, the kitchen is transformed into an experimental setting where food, words, and materials act as catalysts for exchange. Ice here is understood both metaphorically and physically – a surface to be cracked, melted, or dissolved – making way for new forms of relation and collective experience.
Inspired by Cucina Alchimia’s ethos of using every part of a raw material/product, Swedish Girls transformed a single sheet of stainless steel—both its cutouts and remnants—into objects that accompany their specially created dishes.
